There really isn't a hot take but more of an overview of what the state of trons is like through my eyes.

I've been taking note of the titantron making community especially the recent tron competition here in A2E and couldn't help myself but make some comments. I never had a good idea on how to comment.

Does it have a future meaning what is the ultimate goal of the tron making? Before getting deeper we must look at its history.

History of titantrons: I believe the Undertaker was one of the first superstars to feature a titantron. It was a simple touch with shots of the graveyard adding to his live entrance experience. It wasn't long after that superstars had their own personal more elaborate titantrons.

What is a (modern) titantron: Its more or less a montage of (recent) clips placed loosely to the entrance theme. Definitely not a career retrospect of wrestler. Clips usually covering the last 6+ months.

The reason I looked at the (quick and thorough) origins of trons is so I could get a better understanding of it all. There are extremely talented editors and extremely incredible custom fx designs for some wrestlers. But for some trons with a runtime of 4 minutes + (plus loop), I get little elation from it. WWE's original goal was to add atmosphere to said wrestler but with bigger screens they figured they had a nice little package giving you an introduction but not a complete overview of said wrestler.

But it seems WWE has come full circle.

State of current titantrons:

In recent years, wwe has decided to use flashing colors and patterns over montages. In my opinion this made for a more bold and louder live entrance experience. What do you think of the titantron making future?

I think WWE are gonna be moving more towards these 3D logos in the near future like what they used at mania last year and the rumble. I personally am a fan of how it is now, it looks more proffesional and stands out alot more than having a montage. For example, with Becky Lynchs new logo, there isnt really alot you can do with it, however having The Man logo is more suitable.

From a video editing standpoint to us editors create custom entrance videos. I think that will last a long time, however I personally lose interest in them. There is many active titantron creators which are on this site such as @GoldenSkulls, @DashingRKO619 and @BrokenBlack. But I feel nowadays that titantrons feel a bit too rushed and less creative. If you take LeeLee and his Alexa Bliss Tron, he went really creative and kinda avoided the glitchy style that everyone uses in a Bliss tron. Nowadays everyone really just uses the same style in the video that every other editor does and aren't so out of the box with it anymore. Seems also that editors just really care more on focusing on the effects than making the video have a clean proffesional look. Would really love some editors to prove this statement wrong.

If in the future it becomes a fx eye candy battle, than that is completely understandable. Because going through extra lengths and efforts really stretches the boundaries of what is and what is not a titantron. That would be the dilemma.

the comment i was on about with the effects is users heavily abusing and relying on effects. like there is many trons where people dont focus on the editing side too much and just add s_shake thinking that is what will make the video good.

Oh yea for sure. I do think going for a good distinct visual would really add character to said video but I know what you mean by abusing.

A big part of why I went over the origins of the titantron was because I wasn't really sure what the "editing side" was. Titantrons is a medium that wwe/wrestling created, so we'd have to look at the source to differentiate a good and bad tron.
