I think most of the older guys know what I'm getting at. I'm not talking about the talent, we've got some great talent from Youtube and other streaming sites(Jazzy, FP, Hooky), but alot of guys come in with ego's cause of the number of sub's or the positive feedback they get on most of there vids(which 90% of the comments are from inexperienced guys). Just want to know your guys opinions on if editors starting there journeys in that type of environment is a good thing or a bad thing.

I agree. A prime example of someone having an over-inflated ego would be LK.

I never got a great deal of subscribers or feedback via youtube, so I don't think I fall in that category:D

No.
Bad thing completely. Those youtubers think that 1 or 100 inexperienced n00b gave them a "5/5 man , kewl job." , doesn't mean they can make the best Orton vid or whatever. Look at LK687 for example.

Anything based on popular opinion with no proof of experience or knowledge is always a bad thing. It's the same as IMDB for movies but more extreme. YouTube has had a negative effect on the form of editing that is the main hobby of forums such as these. However, it has benefited other forms of editing (more professional forms essentially).

I would have to disagree on this one. Base on my experience I think having good respond from the youtube community is a good thing, Because then you would have more confident about your editing skills and it would've makes you want to make more videos as a result you would've gain more experience over time and become a better editor.

But you have to know where you stand. For example Just because some one said something like this is the best vid ever. Doesn't necessary mean it is............ if you know what I'm taking about.

anyway that is my opinion on this.

LK would be a good example. But u gotta have confidence, i do believe when they leave those positive comments, It makes u wanna keep going. But u shouldnt get ligtheaded over it, dont get a huge ego over it, because one person's opinion could be completely different from anothers

Don't see why you need confidence to continue to make vids, especially if you just started. Cause it's a hobby, you want to make videos. Confidence is a good thing, but if you need it that badly to continue making vids, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

And it's still better to get comments from experienced guys, cause if guys do like it, then you'll feel 10 times better cause you atleast know that they know more about mv making than alot of the youtube guys. I just remember Rawm giving me good feedback(and constructive feedback) when I posted my 1st ever video, he even suggested for me to used it for FinalProducts 1st PPV, and I won lol. Guys just don't get that feeling anymore, most anyway.

I do ! lol

I do get where your coming from, But like hen u feel tht ur video isnt what you want it to be, And u get that positive energy from the comments, It builds your confidence into liking it and wanting to do more of it. I like getting feed from expierenced editors, Although i dont. I just get "good jobs from noobs and feed from Low Midcarders like myself. I think getting expierence from big time editors leaves off a bigger impact.

I would say YouTube has really Changed the whole editing scene.
I see ALOT of videos that people just throw out there with random clips and people praise these videos. It makes me think that people don't even try. It's almost become more of a quick little project than a hobby like some people see this
as.

Like leelee said there are some great videos on YouTube. But not many.

Yeah I know what your getting at its the reason why I was a little late compared to most the editors at making a youtube account cause the whole concept of people that have no clue about editing rating somebody's video 1000/10 was quite retarded. You misewell just make diferent accounts on the forums and priase your own video cause it honestly means nothing. Its got much worse after we get swarmed by all this guys that have months of editing under there belt but have a million subs so I guess there teh cock shit now. So yeah I understand what your talking about but I dont think there is anything you can do besides embrace youtube and try to get the few like iconic that actually has hope

I do agree on this.As some of you may heard the phrase "tough love",many youtube editors need that. Some have to understand that just having so and so subs or getting your videos rated 5/5 ,bu in complete honesty it doesn't mean shit.An for myself coming from YouTube,I admit it feels cool seeing a comment knowing they enjoyed the video, but like Ant said Iconic who came from the whole YouTube "world" have hope.Editors who want to really improve need a place like this who give "tough love" feedback on their videos.I for one don't see myself as a high editor and I enjoy the strong critisizm......Now for the ego part, now that I hate about some YouTube editors, cocky and obviously do not know what their saying. One editing group Im annoyed wth is XWL (aside from Geno),I do enjoy their difference in their style of editing but sometimes they seemed cocky, also those diva editors, those damn borders are so overplayed, nothing speacial or great about em,just distacting but thats just my opinion.YouTube editors need tough love.

PS: Its all my opinion

Anything based on popular opinion with no proof of experience or knowledge is always a bad thing.
That's not 100% right. To correct this statement, it'd be most things or somethings instead of anything. Because if the popular supported something, it's not a must that knowledgeable or experienced people would be against it.

But if experienced people support something when the majority hate it, it's not a very good thing either. You know why? Because the majority are a lot more than the experienced.

So the best thing is earning the popular side and the experienced side.
