Everette: Oof this is as experimental an Orton video can ever get. It's almost as if your goal was to create the best Orton MV, and honestly it probably is the best Orton MV. Definitely the most fun I've ever had watching a video about the dude.
Really love how this video kinda has 2 parts that differentiate in aesthetic. Don't know if that was done on purpose, but it seems like in the first half of the video you were going for a more modern look/style that a lot of editors are currently doing - with the camera recording effect mixed with static and multiple split screens and layering of clips on top of one another. And I thought the look was well done. And the aspect ratio changes were executed smoothly. As it's kinda hard for an editor to nicely make aspect ratio changes without it looking abrupt or distracting. In this case I didn't even notice when the aspect ratio change came in the video until the second watch. Same goes with the Freeze frames/stills like at 1:20. Freeze frames can be hard to do for the same reasons as the aspect ratio changes, but you included them so well in this video.
The second half of the video has a horrifying look, probably cause of the lyrical syncs to his storyline with Wyatt and Alexa Bliss. Absolutely love the lyrical sync at 4:20. Just shows how great you did at picking the right song choice and right clips for this video. And the blood splatter effect after the gunshots and kicks Orton does gives the second half a terrifying vibe as well.
This is a MOTYC. And it's a perfect match to end this Rumble.
Vote - Had a very difficult time picking my favorite video from the 2. But my vote goes for Everette's video as I really loved the aesthetics and way he structured his video a lot more than Resolutions video. Although there's no real loser in this match cause both brought the best videos of the event imo.
Resolution: I really enjoyed the way you used the lyrics to drive some explanation on the character of Black. From his NXT run, NXT title loss and eventual 'heel' run, everything fit in context with the song choice without it feeling forced. Thought you did a very commendable job of structuring your video as everything that was shown had purpose, imo. Thought your vfx were great and fit very well. Feel it goes unappreciated how well you're able to pull these off in your videos and feel you've stepped it up in your last two videos. While I thought it was more visually about ascetically looking nice in your Rollins video, thought you used them to your advantage here to drive your music video and the character of Black.
Thought your editing here was pretty good though I do feel you lose some control when the pace picks up. While editing in 25 fps can forgive a lot of the overly sped-up clips at times, think it's something that you need to slow down on a bit. Especially with action clips as it makes it hard to see what's going on. Didn't have any other issues with your technique but wanted to bring that up as it seems to be a habit of yours. A fairly minor thing that I think is an easy fix, especially considering your experience. Very enjoyable video overall.
Everette: Generally, experimental edits come with a lot of mistakes, even for those with a lot of experience like yourself. So it's a big jump to try something completely out of your comfort zone as it can make or break your edit overall. But thought everything done was executed very well and contributed greatly in setting a tone and establishing a mood that you maintained throughout the entire video. Visually very compelling and correlated well with the song choice and topic very well without overdoing the aesthetic. So this was a jump that paid off in spades, imo.
Thought you structured this edit extremely well. Great use of lyrics throughout to showcase certain moments during his career and his character overall. While not chronology structured, I thought you did a great job of knowing what to use as you never lost my interest. Was worried about that cause of the length but much like your Fiend video, your ability to showcase the character shined and made this such an easy watch.
Great work overall.
My Choice: Really hard choice as both of you guys put up really great videos but thought Everette edged it out. Great match.
Resolution: I really liked the way you showcased the best moments in his career. That intro part was looking great tho. Those VFX and transitions were amazing and really suitable to Black's character and the song itself tells about Blacks storyline. I don't have any issues with your editing tho your sync and pacing were almost perfect. I noticed that the shake effects were looking a bit heavy from 2:25 to 2:44 but ik that it's a kinda heavy and rough song and using such heavy effects make sense but it still seemed a bit more heavy to me to watch it. This is absolutely stunning and you really did a great job without any doubt.
Everette : Wow, this is really cooool. First of all,I really liked your song selection. The structure and the flow of the video went pretty good. Well, the part from 3:52 to 4:33 was my fav. I love that blood overlay which you used in the part which I mentioned above. But I suggest you not to use angle changed clips. Hmm, I didn't found any other issues except those angle changed clips but tbh that doesn't matter the most. You used the promo at the beginning in a correct way too. I have nothing to talk about! You absolutely killed it.
vote : Ik, it's very difficult to decide a winner here. I really enjoyed both the videos alot. But this time I'll go with Everette just because of the simplicity in his video. But tbh there's no loser in this match. A tough competitive match in some way.
