I really like the simplicity of this video and it seems to be an approach that has worked very well for you over the past two or so years. While that doesn't sound very complimentary, I think it's very hard to pull off these types of videos as you need a really strong sense of clip and musical selection that keeps the viewer interested, two things you do very well, imo. Thought you profiled AJ's somewhat manic character very well with your song choice and use of footage with your editing being all-around very solid. Very enjoyable video overall.
This was a pretty good watch overall. Thought you profiled Shibata well enough here and your editing was pretty solid though I would say a bit one-dimensional. While the song doesn't offer much as the rhythm is pretty monotone, felt you could've done a bit more as your technique got stale after a while. Thought you tried to do something a little different once the chorus hit, but the glitch effect wasn't enough as you didn't really change your technique much during that section. Your editing wasn't bad by any means, just wished there was more there as it got repetitive after a while. Solid video overall.
STS: Thought what you did during I'd say the first half of your video served very little purpose. Highlighting the incident had absolutely nothing to do with her career, the storyline and while there's some context from the incident on why the match happened, didn't feel it was important enough to structure your video off it. Just a big stretch to add it and tone-deaf to be honest. Everything done after that was ok, decently edited but had some serious audio issues that basically muted a lot of the voiceovers you used. The song itself rung my eardrums at times, so leveling your voiceovers with the music is very important. There was also a 15-second finish that you literally left blank. Don't know what to say in regard to that besides it coming off as being lazy.
There's very little to like in this video. Strangely enough, your editing was the strongest I've seen from you, but it lacks interest, structuring was really messy, audio editing wasn't great and you didn't have a conclusive ending. A decent second half with your match recap standing out, just doesn't save a lot of the mistakes made. A very weird video to say the least.
sts: The last minute of this video was outstanding. I'm not familiar with her work, but I found that last minute to be a great little showcase of her character and how motivated she is to do this. The overlay wasn't distracting and it really looked good with the climactic part of the song. Your clip selection was great.
I agree with Leelee on the first 2 minutes of the video. The tragic situation that she was in doesn't have much to do with the later part of the video. It would have also been best to have left out any of the camera footage or showing the creep who was stalking her. I guess you wanted to show how serious and devastating it was for Sonya, but I mean just including a voice over would have been enough to know how bad it was. I would have preferred seeing just her WWE career and her storyline with Rose leading up to Summerslam.
I saw some clips of Sonya looking like she had a MMA background at 2:54. Would have been awesome to see you cover more of that. I even saw a clip of her in Tough Enough lol. Including more of her stuff in Tough Enough could have shown how much she worked hard to get to the place she is now.
Idk, I just don't think using that terrible situation for a video was the right thing to do cause it did seem insensitive.
Vote - Arguden still has my favorite video of the match. Although I still love watching the video Blackie made. Both videos are so damn fun to watch over and over. I thought sts brought a well edited video, and tbh it might be the best edited video of the three. But it was difficult to see what the actual idea of this video was since there's so much going on with the way everything is structured.
Arguden : Very enjoyable video overall. Good synching and pacing. The editing is smooth and to the point. You did a solid job in showcasing his in ring skills especially for someone who isn't familiar with the wrestler like me. While i have nothing bad to say about the editing, my only complaint is that the video somehow felt too generic and forgettable. Maybe you should add some voiceovers and try to give your video some emotional depth so that the viewers can relate and connect to it in a deeper way.
STS : Well the idea behind this video is tricky because you are using a very personal incident from her life. But i thought overall the editing was very good. The slow parts showing her past with Mandy was nicely done. The voiceovers part felt a bit too long, maybe you should have used some more footages of her entrance or training etc upon the voiceovers. And then the final minute was absolutely amazing, although it felt like it didn't have much to do with the rest of the video i still enjoyed it a lot. And i also kinda get your idea of showing Sonya's struggles in real life and her desire to keep fighting and come back stronger, i think the video actually delieved on that aspect. Its just that it kinda feels weird to use the situation she was in. But other than that its very nicely edited, will definately be watching again.
Vote : STS.
While STS' idea could be seemed as silly or insensitive i still think that his video actually delivered and brought a lot of emotions (something that was lacking in the other 2 videos in my humble opinion). Arguden had the most flawless editing out of the three but STS's video's emotion range did it for me.
